I am a fan of Nikon and love my D40x and thought I would like a small Nikon point and shoot for a recent trip where I did not want to risk damage to my DSLR. I was not happy with the experience. The Coolpix L20 is very difficult to use in anything but full auto. Low light exposure is grainy and very sensitive to movement. Shutter controls are menu driven and hard to get to in a short time situation. Overall versatility did not come close to my Kodak EasyShare V550 by any comparison. Camera has some problems finding focal point under many conditions and I found that (in my opinion) the camera is only useful on bright sunny days and even then the photos are sometimes out of sharp focus. I intend to return it and would not recommend it to anyone at a price of more than $30.Get more detail about Nikon Coolpix L20 10MP Digital Camera with 3.6 Optical Zoom and 3 inch LCD (Black).

Nikon Coolpix S610 10MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Vibration Reduction (VR) Zoom (Smoke Gray) Review
I've had this camera for a little more than a year now, before I broke the lens on the camera. It worked well for me when I went to Japan to take quick snap shots of where I visited (mostly outside). The start up for the camera is very fast, opening up immediately when you press the "on" button; this was something I especially needed and wanted, specifically, for my winter trip there, and also one of the main reasons why I bought this camera was for the fast start up speed. When I was visiting Japan, I was able to walk down a section of the street and easily pull out my camera to take a quick snap shot without having to stop. That function was wonderful to have when I was in a rush.
The battery life was amazing, which was also something I was looking into. I needed my camera to last throughout the whole day when I was visiting Japan and it ended up lasting longer than a day. If I remembered correctly though, I may have asked for the extended battery life when I bought the camera, so they may have upgraded that for me. I was able to use this camera for a whole week and only needed to charge it twice. To me, that's a super win win situation, because my old camera had a horrible battery life, which only lasted a couple hours.
The quality of this camera was nice for the most part, but at times it would be blurry. It definitely showed clarity for most of my pictures, but there would be occasions when some of the pictures don't focus all too well. You would have to hold the camera extremely still sometimes in order to capture a certain moment... I find myself taking more than one picture of same item sometimes in order to get it "just" right. If you're a perfectionist in terms of clarity, this would be the best suited camera to select. I would still enjoy the camera (if I hadn't broken it), since it's 10 mega-pixels definitely showed me a lot of detail in my pictures, but you'd have to be a bit patient.
The functionality of the camera was easy to use and set up, give or take a few moments where I needed to look up something in the manual, in order to find more details of what the button/function did.
The optical zoom of the camera was nice to have, but it wasn't great. I was expecting to have more focus in the zoom, considering this was a 4x the optical zoom preference. The lens in this camera, or any camera with high zoom, protrudes outwards when it's on, so you have to be careful not to drop it while it's on, or it could be jammed. Since the "on" and "off" button on this camera is easily accessible, it was also easy for things to push into it and turn on, thus, turning on the camera and pushing out the lens outward. Because of this, my camera lens broke, and/or was jammed, when my friend left this camera on the leather couch and someone pushed it aside, turning it on because it hit something, and another person sat on it (cause they didn't see it), which essentially crushed the camera lens... it was an unfortunate event, considering how I had bought this item at full price when it first came out.
I like the camera, but it could be better. I would still like to own another one if I had the money to buy a new, mainly, for the way it looks. I know that sounds kinda shallow, but it looks pretty sleek, and it's the perfect size for me (not too small, and not too big).
Overall, it's good, but not great. It has a fast and speedy start up function. The picture quality is good, but the focus can be a little off making it a bit blurred. The lens and LCD screen for any particular camera is very fragile, and this camera is NOT an exception. Happy purchasing, everyone. I hope my comments help a bit.

Nikon COOLPIX S570 12.0 Megapixel Digital Camera - Black
I'm not going to go into a lot of the detail. I'll just talk about what I like and don't about this camera.
Previous to the s570, we had a coolpix 880 - 3.3 M - state of the art at the time. It was sort of a crossover between point-and-shoot and more technical photography. It was always a bit to bulky, although it was pretty standard sized for the time. After having the 880 for several years, we faced the fact that we're point and shoot people, so after a lot of research, we settled on this one.
About the 570:
In the description of what comes with the 570, it doesn't mention a carrying case. There is one, and quite nice at that.
It is very compact, and will easily fit even into your shirt pocket.
No separate lens cap like the 880, always a nuisance - a door over the lens opens and closes automatically.
Controls are easy to use, a little small for clumsy hands, but thats all of the space that there is to use.
Finally, a good sized viewfinder!
I takes up to a 25 minute movie (avi file), and records decent sound, not the best, but decent. It is not, after all, a movie camera.
It has all kind of smarts that I have yet to master. Over time, and a bit more time with the manual, I'm sure that I'll be taking advantage of more of the features.
It has sound effects, such as a shutter sound. I find this feedback to be helpful.
Maybe I'm not critical enough, but I think that it takes great pictures - good enough for a point-and-shoot person.
I have yet to go through a battery charge, unlike the 880 where I always had a spare ready.
When you order the camera, be sure to order a memory card for it. Its internal memory will hold something like 9 pics. I got an 8 gig card - not much price dif. from a 4 gig. This will hold over 2,300 pictures. That is, of course, excessive, but I estimate that a 25 min movie will use up around 2 gig, so in that light, it makes sense.
I found there to be a very short latency between pressing the shutter button, and the picture. This is contrary to other reviews that I read about it.
Dislikes:
Errr, I actually can't think of any.
I gave it 4 out of 5 stars, because I'm sure that a camera in this price range has some drawbacks. For me, it's just right.Get more detail about Nikon COOLPIX S570 12.0 Megapixel Digital Camera - Black.

Where To Buy Nikon Coolpix S60 10MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Vibration Reduction (VR) Zoom (Platinum Bronze)
I know that if you are reading this then you have probably spent time reading other reviews. I was a little skeptical about buying the camera because of those reviews. But i went with my instincts and wanted to try it out for myself. Boy am I glad that I did. Sure the picture quality on the camera's screen is a bit grainy. But as you transfer it to a computer you will see how outstanding the picture quality actually is. The touch to focus is amazing for taking portraits. I love this camera and would recommend either this one or the newer model (Nikon S70). I used to work for Best Buy in the camera department so I know that the S70 is an amazing camera. If you have time swing by the store and check it out. Or just trust me and buy either that camera or this camera. I guarantee that you will be completely satisfied with the pictures that you are taking. Hope this helped. :)Get more detail about Nikon Coolpix S60 10MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Vibration Reduction (VR) Zoom (Platinum Bronze).

Buy Nikon Coolpix S620 12.2MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Vibration Reduction (VR) Zoom and 2.7 inch LCD (Rich Pearl)
Whilst this camera takes fairly nice photos, it's very slow to focus. I've missed a few key photos while waiting for the camera to be ready to shoot.
Additionally, I noticed a few months after I got it that the small screws on both sides of the camera had fallen out. One day the side panel just fell off. I have yet to be able to get this fixed but I imagine that a Nikon store should be able to help.
For me, the camera is too bulky to carry around in a small purse but it takes good pictures.

Cheapest Nikon Coolpix L18 8MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Ruby Red)
First of all I consider myself as an amateur photographer even though people have paid me for photo shoots. Although I shoot mostly with DSLR's I have had owned many point and shoot cameras. My office decided to buy a few of these cameras because the boss is old school and wanted a camera that used AA batts. This camera is horrible! Don't expect to take action shots with this camera. The delay between when you press the shutter and when it actually takes the picture is about 4-5 sec. Some times you may get lucky and get a picture within 3 sec but that's rarely. The problem is that it takes about 2 sec to just focus and another 2 to take the picture. We use the cameras to take pictures of job sites so I don't take any action shots but because of the delay I've skipped taking some pictures because some times in never even would take the picture. I would just hear the camera trying to focus.
Some times I've tried the camera to take macro pictures of equipment name plates and even with the macro setting on the pictures would be blurry. We have 3 of these cameras and none of them have ever had a focused macro picture. I've found that my cell phone camera takes better macro pictures.
We've had these 3 cameras for 2 years now and the only reason why they still work is because everyone in the office tries to get the other Canon cameras that we have before they have to take these cameras.

I recently bought this camera and while it takes great pictures, the lens system has failed and will not open. I took it to a repair place and the estimate was as much as the camera cost. Nikon Coolpix P6000 13.5MP Digital Camera with 4x Wide Angle Optical Vibration Reduction (VR) Zoom Order Now
I'm just going to give basic views here because there are a lot of great reviews.
I've already taken several thousand photos with this camera and am very pleased with the daylight shots. It excels in good light at ISO 100 to 400. I've set the color enhancement to vivid as I've done with my Canons and the colors come out rich and beautiful! If too much color or I want B&W, I make changes via iPhoto - a very simple process. The photos are crisp, clean and the camera focuses quickly and very well.
Low light situations will require a tripod and some manual adjustments. If it goes over ISO 400, the noise is miserable and the photo is virtually worthless. To avoid that, you will need to use a tripod , which I have only done a couple times since my Canon S2IS does a better job in low lights.
The GPS does take some time to obtain a signal so does not work right away. When it works, it works very well. To that end, I can just add the basic location data to the photos that are missing the information through my software when I download the photos to iPhoto. It's not difficult but can be time consuming. Sadly, I think this was Nikon's first and last consumer level GPS enabled camera. They should have worked on improving it instead of only developing the one model.
The pop-up flash works fine. I've seen some complaints about it but I have no issues and find it adequate in normal situations.
Movie mode is a great disappointment. The microphone does not pick up sound very well and the video quality is just ok. My Canon S2IS does stereo recording and allows the full use of the 10x optical zoom lens during video recording. This newer camera appears to only allow digital zoom. Oh well.
Overall, I love this camera and have no regrets and will keep it for a long time. Nikon, if you had continued to develop the GPS in your models, you would have been on to something great. As it stands, I'm switching again to add the new Sony HX5V to my collection (we always carry two cameras) so that there will be two with GPS. Thank you for getting me hooked on the geotagging - I can't live without it!Get more detail about Nikon Coolpix P6000 13.5MP Digital Camera with 4x Wide Angle Optical Vibration Reduction (VR) Zoom.

The camera takes absolutly fantastic pictures. Unfortunately it is very fragile. We had the camera fall about 1' and hit the floor. After whicht it was no longer functional (reports "Lens Error"). The Nikon repair shop wants $150 to repair it. A bit steep for a $175 camera.
We now own a Stylus 790 SW from Olympus. The image quality isn't quite as good, but the camera is supposed to be able to survive a 5' drop.Get more detail about Nikon Coolpix S500 7MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Vibration Reduction Zoom.

Since the one we have is now getting repaired, I went ahead and ordered another one because we need it for vacation. It is super easy to use and we get 8X10 pictures made all the time and they look great! You can print up to 16X20 and still get a good quality. Easy, you can crop on the touchscree which is great. Nikon Coolpix S6 6MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Wi-Fi Capable) Best Quality
I received this as a gift, which as such was really cool from the friends who gave it to me. This model's appeal in particular is that it can send your photos to your computer wirelessly, so let me get that right out of the way: you can eventually get it to work, but it saps the battery quickly (and I had two), and more importantly... I just could never get a good picture out of it, so the wi-fi wizardry is for naught.
As a camera... What a disappointment; this applies to most point and shoots: they seem to get many eye catching parameters right, except the important ones. Large LCD screen? Check. Big brand name? Hey it's a Nikon so it must be good, right? Wi-fi wizardry or some such? Check. Results? Awful.
Whenever you try to get a picture it tries to "think" for you, never relinquishes control... And eventually takes the shot... So the moment you were trying to capture is gone, unless you like having people grin artificially for ten minutes... It tries to flash at the slightest provocation, resulting in those garish "tourist" shots; you can disable the flash but then it's completely underexposed... Because I've always had somewhat shaky hands my shots always came out blurry. The only good point about this camera in particular is its macro mode - with the right lighting, loads of time and even more patience. But right after I lent this camera and one of the batteries was lost, it's just been gathering dust. What a waste!
But even worse, honestly, is that the experience is bad enough to kill any photographic aspirations, and that's my biggest beef with this camera and its brethren. I ended up buying a Canon 30D DSLR and that's been great; while I remain brand agnostic what could I possibly believe from Nikon?
So my advice is simple: If you're getting a camera for yourself, look at a cheap DSLR, and if you're worried about the size, look at the Olympus range of small DSLRs like the Olympus Evolt E520 10MP Digital SLR Camera with Image Stabilization w/ 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 Zuiko Lens or compacts but not point and shoots like the Canon PowerShot G11 10MP Digital Camera with 5x Wide Angle Optical Stabilized Zoom and 2.8-inch articulating LCD, the Panasonic DMC-LX3 10.1MP Digital Camera with 24mm Wide Angle MEGA Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Black)or their equivalent in other brands: You are buying this to unleash your creativity, for which you need to learn and eventually use manual control... No camera, even the ones that cost $8,000 can think better than you. If you're planning a point and shoot as a gift maybe the person in question would gain more from even just a lens...Get more detail about Nikon Coolpix S6 6MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Wi-Fi Capable).
Nikon Coolpix 995 3.2MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom Immediately
I purchased one of these cameras. It was a horrible mistake. Why? Because it's a Nikon. Nikon is known to produce substandard quality products, ESPECIALLY in comparison to Canon, the company that produced my wonderful Digital Rebel XTI.
The XTI has a REAL learning curve because it is a good camera. There is no learning curve to the nikon (or any nikon for that matter). I will never purchase a nikon again after my horrible experiences with this pile of garbage coolpix 995 I've got gathering dust with a dead battery in it. I'll never charge that battery again. By the way, the battery life is horrendous.
Picture quality is horrible. Good luck getting a decent 3x5 print quality photo out of the thing.
Zoom? WHAT ZOOM?
And above all, this thing is SLOW. It takes forever for the camera to take a single picture. Want action shots? Not with this stinking ****pile.
If you're about to make the mistake of buying one of these, you're better off buying the lowest quality point and shoot Canon on the market. Cameras from the late 1800's are better than the nikon coolpix 995.Get more detail about Nikon Coolpix 995 3.2MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom.

Nikon Coolpix S4 6MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Zoom Top Quality
I bought this camera in May 2007 on clearance at Circuit City for $139, and man, did I get a deal! I've taken this camera on every trip I've been on. It has survived five music festivals, dozens of concerts and even countless mosh pits strapped to my side in a camera case, not to mention it's been dropped a couple times, and it's STILL ticking! Takes great pictures, and with a 10x optical zoom, 6MP, and a swivel lens that allows me to hold it over my head and still see what I'm aiming at, it is perfect for concerts and other similar crowded events. My only regret is that it's not the best in low-light settings unless you're relatively close to the object you're shooting (max flash range of about 10-15 feet). Despite this one flaw, I'm more than happy with this camera, and for what I need and use it for, I couldn't have picked a better one.Get more detail about Nikon Coolpix S4 6MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Zoom.

My wife and I have been using this fully featured camera extensively for the last few days and we are very happy with the results. I love the way that it automatically uploads all recent photos to the internet when plugged back into the recharger - this has got to be the future of all digital devices. With my previous digital camera this involved connecting a cable from the camera to my PC and then uploading manually from there.
My only gripes are:
1) It took me several hours and several calls to customer support to get started with my home WiFi connection. They were a bit lost with this feature and amongst other things, had me download and install connectivity software that I didn't need onto my PC. The user manual was poorly written and misleading. In the end I figured out that I was simply using the wrong WEP setting, but the camera was not giving me any error messages or feedback to indicate that.
2) The myPictureTown website is a bit basic. It would have been nice to have had some photo editing features there, but I am using the camera's built in editing to 'fix' the photos before uploading. Also, as someone else mentioned - what if Nikon pulls the plug on this website?

This camera functioned acceptably though not impressively for about four months. The main issue is battery life - short at first and now renders the camera unusable. I have tried every type of batter and still find that I can not take more than three pictures without having to replace the batteries. If I place the camera in storage with never used batteries for a few weeks, when I turn it on, I receive a message indicating the batteries must be replaced. I replace, take two or three photos, and then the batteries are dead again. I have had this camera for over a year and a half now. Day time shots outside of still objects are great quality, as are close up shots. However, the flaws start to show when you try to take shots of moving objects. No matter what setting you use or how many functions you change it is not possible to capture action shots as the shutter is so slow!
My major problem with this camera comes when I try to take indoor night time pics. It is impossible to use this camera without the flash as every picture turns out dark and blurry. Again, I have tried every setting and function to remedy this to no avail. The only option is to use the auto flash which is absolutely blinding!!!! It kills all the atmosphere in the shot, as well as resulting in complaints from everyone that they have spots before their eyes! There is no chance of getting any candid shots with this camera. Even using the auto flash, the camera is so slow to actually take the shot. It is quite frustrating.
The other auto-settings on this camera (e.g. sports, party, snow etc) are pretty useless. Believe me, I have experimented with them and every other setting in every situation to no avail. I am really disappointed with this camera, particularly with the shutter speed (regardless of what settings you change) and the flash quality. It's not what I expected from the Nikon brand.Get more detail about Nikon Coolpix P5000 10MP Digital Camera with 3.5x Optical Vibration Reduction Zoom.
Cheap Nikon Coolpix S52 9MP Digital Camera Zoom with 3x Optical Vibration Reduction Zoom (Midnight Black)
This is a great camera!!! The only drawback to this camera is the time it takes for the flash to re-charge...otherwise a truly great piece of equipment!!! I've taken it on every trip since I got in June and just love it!!! Learning the "modes" has proven a bit of a challenge, but well worth it for that one good picture!!Get more detail about Nikon Coolpix S52 9MP Digital Camera Zoom with 3x Optical Vibration Reduction Zoom (Midnight Black).

Buy Nikon Coolpix S51 8.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Vibration Reduction Zoom (Magenta)
We bought this camera because, like most women, my wife wants a small camera. Expecting the best from the illustrious name "Nikon", our hopes were dashed.
The optical quality of the photographs it produced was abysmal. Most were out of focus, and those that were in focus were of very poor quality.
So we returned it for a refund, thanks for that, and bought a Canon. It is slightly larger but produces excellent photographs every time.

Discount Nikon Coolpix P5100 12.1MP Digital Camera with 3.5x Optical Vibration Reduction Zoom
When I was shopping for a camera, I was extremely finicky. I wanted something that took great pictures (obviously), had manual controls (i was just starting to get into photography at the time), and was very portable (if you can't take it everywhere, what good is it?).
I spent months and months online reading reviews, shopping around, and decided on this camera. It has certainly delivered.
Display: I've never really had a problem using the display in all but the brightest sun. The viewfinder's there if you need it, too, which is nice. I would love it if it was a through-the-lens viewfinder, but it's not; it shows what's in front on the viewfinder, rather than what's in front of the lens, and can't adjust for zoom. This is a really minor complaint though, as I've really never had much trouble with the display.
Ease of use: The auto mode on this camera works great. The special scene modes are great. (That covers ease-of-use for amateurs-- you can easily take great pictures with this camera even if you never touch any of the manual controls.) If you're more knowledgeable, the camera has full manual, aperture, shutter, and program modes too. As someone who's shopped around, I can tell you this is really hard to find in a camera that's this size and price. All of the controls feel intuitive and I've always found it easy to find everything I need. If I could change one thing here, I wish the camera would remember settings that I'd changed after I've turned it off and on again. For instance, I almost never use the flash, but every time I turn it on, I have to turn the flash off again.
Features: Features. Hmm. This camera has every shooting mode I could ever need, manual controls, a FLASH HOTSHOE, *and* can accommodate additional lenses? Ok, so it doesn't come with on-board GPS like the P6000, but other than that, I can't think of a feature I would ever want that this camera doesn't have. Oh, and the vibration reduction's great too. I've been able to take shake-free pictures with shutter speeds up to 1 or 2 seconds handheld if I steady myself on something. This is really nice for shooting in low-light or at night. Complaint: the flash. The flash on this camera is bad. It's not very powerful and most pictures taken with it come out looking unnatural. I think it also sometimes gets the shadow of the lens, which is odd. Then again, if this really mattered, I could always buy an external flash. It hasn't really bothered me, but it has turned me into a natural-light purist. Vibration reduction really helps with this.
On the negative side, don't even try to take pictures of kids playing sports with this thing. It has a mode for it, but I wouldn't recommend it. The camera seems a little too slow to respond for this sort of thing. The high ISOs are really grainy, too. I like to set it at ISO 64-100 and take pictures of fairly stationary things. If this isn't for you, you might want to consider a slightly more nimble little camera.
Picture quality: Picture quality is stellar. Really. Occasionally, I see pictures taken with a professional DSLR and say, "Wow, I don't think I could do that with my camera," but short of being a DSLR, this thing can take really amazing pictures. The 12MP also make it easy to crop things way down and find a more impressive photo hidden within an otherwise dull one.
Portability: It's not as small as some digital cameras made these days, but it's still easily purse/pocket-sized (bulgy pocket, but still). For all the features this thing holds, it seems downright miniscule.
If you can't tell already, I highly recommend this camera. I took mine in for repair the other day (fell off a table and got a lens error. :( otherwise, has been very durable, though.) and, after quoting me the price for the repair, the woman in the camera store said that whether it was worth it or not depended on how much I paid for it and how much I love it. I think I was blushing a little as I told her, "It's worth it."
I am so in love with this camera.Get more detail about Nikon Coolpix P5100 12.1MP Digital Camera with 3.5x Optical Vibration Reduction Zoom.

Low Price Nikon Coolpix 7600 7MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom
I purchased a Coolpix 7600 in July of 2005 to use on a 15,000 mile round trip from my home in far West Texas to the Arctic Ocean at Deadhorse, Alaska. I had no problem learning how to use it and took around 3,000 photos with this camera on the trip. My wife was carrying her state-of-the art Canon $5,000 dollar mega monster. When I transferred the first set of pictures from the 7600 to my laptop and showed them to her she literally turned a different color in total disbelief of the quality of the pictures that I had taken with this camera. She said that the 7600 "Made Love" to the colors because of the quality of the photos. She also said that this camera proved that she had wasted a lot of money on her camera after looking at what the 7600 had produced. This camera is tough. I left it on a picnic table in the Yukon Territory one night and the camera got rained on. Certain that it was a goner I put it in a warm dry place for 3 days (just had to try to save it) and when I turned it on every feature worked perfectly. I found that alkaline batteries would run down after shooting less than 100 pictures and tried lithium batteries. I did not think that the lithiums were ever going to go dead! I did not count the number of photos taken with the lithiums but would safely say that I was getting at least 7-800 photos before having to replace the batteries. I now also have a Canon Powershot S5 IS and have found that the rechargable NiMH batteries that I use in the S5 IS last as long as the lithium batteries did in the 7600 so now I use the rechargables in both cameras. I take a lot of photos and when running out the door for a quick jaunt I always grab the Nikon 7600 instead of my much more sophisticated Canon. This camera's size and capabilities make it as desirable as my Canon. Almost five years after buying this camera I still love it and it continues to amaze me every time I use it...and it has been used a lot. For the money I can't say enough good things about this camera. GREAT CAMERA! I just love it.Get more detail about Nikon Coolpix 7600 7MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom.
Save Nikon Coolpix 5400 5.1 MP Digital Camera w/ 4x Optical Zoom
I have had this camera for 6 years. For the entire 6, I have been frustrated by the delay in writing the picture. I am not sure how many fps they claim, I am here to tell you it is seconds per frame. There is a 3-10 second delay between each photo. Now, I am just your average user, 4 kids and want good pics of them. I have to admit, when I got the shot, there is no better. I have the wide angle and telephoto lenses and are very happy with those (not happy with the amount of time to change a lenses).
My sister purchased a Canon Rebel. After witnessing how fast she could reel off the shots, I dumped this and purchased the XS. For an investment of 700, I now feel I have a much better system than the 5400 ever could have provided. The Nikon is on its way to ebay.
I would strongly advise not to buy this camera.Get more detail about Nikon Coolpix 5400 5.1 MP Digital Camera w/ 4x Optical Zoom.

Lowest Price Nikon Coolpix S50c 7.2 MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Vibration Reduction Zoom and Wifi Capable
The Nikon Coolpix S50c is a really nice camera, what I was looking for was the Nikon S6 which I feel is much more user friendly. Nikon Coolpix 950 2MP Digital Camera w/ 3x Optical Zoom Order Now
Overall, this isn't a bad digital camera for most types of photography. It's quite easy to use, and perfect for the beginner. The only real gripes I have are the limitations in the size of the Compact Flash it uses, and the fact that after a time, the battery compartment won't stay closed. Otherwise, I've taken some fantastic pictures with this camera! In fact, I'd have to say it does better than some of the newer Nikon Coolpix cameras (like the L18, which I also have). I've found newer models to have focus and flash issues, as well as severe shutter lag. This may not be comparable in resolution, but it's quite enough for most uses. You don't need more than 2.1 MegaPixel for decent resolution unless you're doing huge blow-ups of photographs.Get more detail about Nikon Coolpix 950 2MP Digital Camera w/ 3x Optical Zoom.
Nikon Coolpix S210 8.0MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Graphite Black) Decide Now
I got this camera in December of 2008. It worked great for five months - most pictures were great, video is so-so for one of these cameras, and not really good for nighttime shots (though it is a point-and-shoot). But, five months after owning the camera, I turned it on and got a lens error. It seems that has happened to most everyone who uses this camera. It doesn't seem to matter how well you care for the camera, all of these Nikon S210s seem to get the lens error (I can't speak personally for other Nikon point-and-shoot or CoolPix models). I sent my camera to Nikon and got the lens replaced under warranty. They sent it back and about nine months later the exact same problem occurred and this time Nikon refused to fix it because it had been over six months.
The LENS ERROR appears to be inevitable so don't even bother with this camera - it is definitely not worth the trouble or expense. Nikon has good SLRs and that's what they should stick to.Get more detail about Nikon Coolpix S210 8.0MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Graphite Black).
Nikon Coolpix L4 4MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom Buy Now
This was my very first digital camera, given to me as a Christmas present. It was extremely easy to use and I took it everywhere with me. As I am an avid horseback rider, I was pleased at how well this camera captured moving animals and at how well it held up. It was extremely sturdy. I could always slip it into my bag or even my pocket if it was big enough and it would always be ready to go.
Eventually, however, after a long while, the lens stopped closing when I turned it off and I upgraded to a Kodak Easyshare ZD710.
This is a great camera for someone just starting to become interested in taking pictures on their own. It first easily in the hands and takes decent pictures. Nothing amazing, and not for someone who wants a lot of zoom or mega pixels, but a great start.Get more detail about Nikon Coolpix L4 4MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom.

I was looking for a camera specifically to take fishing. I'm a fly fisherman and the camera I have been using is just too heavy, too bulky, and too expensive to carry on the river. This camera offered me a view finder, which I prefer; adequate resolution, a great lens with a very healthy optical zoom. Although somewhat dated technologically, it gives me everything I want and I'm not afraid of drowning it if I take a fall.Get more detail about Nikon Coolpix 4800 4MP Digital Camera with 8.3x Optical Zoom.

Nikon Coolpix S50 7.2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Vibration Reduction Zoom (Black) Best Quality
I got this camera because I have always been a big fan of Nikon cameras and thought they take great pictures.
Well, I am not disappointed at the pictures, they look so much better than the one were taken from my husband's Casio camera (in my opinion).
But after a few months of using it, the problems started to come one after another. The camera would just automatically turn on in my purse causing the battery to die quickly, which does not have a very long life anyway (long enough to take pictures in one day if you are lucky). And the 2 silver pieces on two sides fell off. And one day the lens cover got stuck half way and I could not do anything with it, couldn't turn it off, couldn't turn it on, and I removed the battery but that didn't help either.
But it seems like a lot of people complain about the same things so obviously mine is not the only one to have these issues.
I'm still using it right now after I fixed it myself, and still happy with the way the pictures look, but I would not recommend it to anyone since it's not worth it for this price

Nikon Coolpix L12 7MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Vibration Reduction Zoom Get it now!
Overall a nice little camera by Nikon. It's compact enough to carry in a pocket or purse. It makes quality images if used properly. The anti-shake feature is good, especially if you have trouble holding a camera steady. Battery management is good. It uses two AA batteries. They are available in most places and are not expensive when compared to most others. It will accept alkaline, lithium, oxyride, and rechargeable nickel-metal hydride. The case is plastic. The most delicate parts appear to be the battery hatch and memory card lids, the lens extension, and the monitor screen. If you break the monitor screen Nikon will replace it for $100+/-. Storage is either on the camera's internal memory of 21 MB or removable SD cards. Approved cards are by SanDisk, Toshiba, and Panasonic up to 4GB. The camera is made in China. There is no viewfinder. Image composition is done on the monitor screen. It has 20 language options built into the camera. The flash will work up to a maximum of 14-26 feet, depending on the settings. A CD is provided with editing software for Windows or Macintosh. User manuals in English and Spanish are provided. The lens is a 3x Nikkor, 5.7-17.1mm/f2.8-4.7;(a 35mm equivalent of 35-105mm); 5 elements in 5 groups. The sensor is 7.1 million effective pixels. 6 image sizes are available. The shutter speeds are from 1/1500 to 4 seconds. The self timer runs for 10 seconds. The interface is USB. The three areas which I might consider weaknesses are flash recycle times which might be considered a bit on the slow side, macro which seems like it should go a bit closer, and composing on the monitor screen when the sun shines on it. (It's best to shade the screen from direct rays of the sun when composing.) If you have a camera of this type, it's best to spend a little money on a case to protect it. I bought one of those semi-hard clam shell types with a zipper. So far it's protected it well.Get more detail about Nikon Coolpix L12 7MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Vibration Reduction Zoom.
Where To Buy Nikon Coolpix S7c 7MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom
I am a semi-professional extremely serious recreational photographer and I run a successful photography website and have sold several photos that were taken on this camera. I own a mess of DSLR's ranging from Canon to the latest and greatest Nikons. Even in comparison to thousands of dollars worth of SLR's these photos are pretty good. I have owned this camera since it's debut and are still using it in 2009 and will continue to use it in 2010 and probably longer. My girlfriend has brand new Samsung Dual View and the image quality, ease of use, zoom, and flash of the S7c kill it. I have had absolutely no desire to get a new point and shoot camera since I purchased this camera. If you know what you are doing and just spend maybe 15-30 seconds to set up the camera up you can take amazing photos, not to say just turning the thing on and taking a picture on auto is bad. The people who complain about the noise in the photos are crazy. I have posted pictures that were taken in Vegas from the top of the eiffel tower at the Paris Hotel so feel free to take a look. These were taken in an auto mode and since the photo was taken in dark conditions the ISO was set fairly high and there isn't much noise at all. The fact that the camera is a sensible 7MP rather than a 10 or 12MP helps keep the amount of noise low. When you overload an image sensor with 12MPs of information the amount of noise increases. You can get clearer pictures out of a lower MP camera because once you overload sensors with useless information the image quality goes south. That's why even the $2,000+ D300 Nikon DSLR is a 12.3MP and that has a huge (in comparison to PAS cameras) image sensor. It comes down to this: would you like to view a slightly smaller yet still full screen image thats clear or would you rather have a picture thats overloaded with noise and awkward lighting that can be blown up to the size of a billboard. If you still like the billboard idea this isn't the camera for you. However please note!!!!: If you are shooting action NO point and shoot camera will give you a professional look. In sports mode with the S7c it does well but it's no SLR nor will any POS be. But if you are looking for an all around great camera you should highly consider the Nikon S7c. I hope the review helpsGet more detail about Nikon Coolpix S7c 7MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom.

Shop For Coolpix S700 12.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom with Vibration Reduction (Silver)
There's a lot to like about the Nikon S700. First and foremost for me is photo quality. It's quite excellent in my opinion. I like vivid colors, so I have my camera set to vivid all the time, and this gives me rich but still natural-looking colors. I also bought the Canon Powershot SD780 is for it's HD video, but I must say I like the NIkon S700's IQ better. I think most people will prefer the Canon's crisp and vivid photo rendition, but I like Nikon because it almost look like film and has a less processed look. Noise levels are also pretty good.
The only thing that bothers me about the S700 is its' autofocus seem to miss more that the Canon, but otherwise, the Nikon is a great camera with lots of resolution.Get more detail about Coolpix S700 12.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom with Vibration Reduction (Silver).

I have had this camera for about 2 years and now that I've had a chance to play around with it, it's great! I have taken some amazing pictures, people ask me all the time what kind of camera I use! I haven't ever messed with the Wi-fi stuff, I just take the memory card out and upload it to my laptop, that works best for me. The only time I haven't gotten the best pictures is at night. The best way to get pictures for me has been in sunlight. Overall it's a great point and shoot camera!Get more detail about Nikon Coolpix P1 8MP Digital Camera with 3.5x Optical Zoom (Wi-Fi Capable).
