Nikon Coolpix S560 10MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Vibration Reduction (VR) Zoom with 2.7 inch LCD (Graphite Black) Right now

For the most part, this camera looks good, quick response and the battery life is great! But the VR feature is not all that and the over all picture quality needs work. Point and shoot cameras are not made for top notch quality photos but for the money you spend, they should be. Right? I want to look into getting the Nikon Coolpix S8000 but read the comments and...poor results with photos.
What is it? Not one point and shoot camera, that I have ever owned, has produced awesome pictures. I am picky and thank goodness for the DSLRs!
I get great results with my D90! Nikon....rethink the way you make your point and shoot coolpix cameras! What are you all holding out for? You all can do better than that! Consumers are paying big bucks for these devices and we get in return, nothing to write home about!
The only reason why I have a point and shoot cool pix is because I can't always have my D90 with me so I need a small purse size shooter! I would just love to have the prefect Coolpix compact camera! Wouldn't you?
It could be a sales tactic. You buy a camera, don't like it, don't return it and you wait for the next one, buy it, don't like it don't return it or maybe you do. But the point is...you keep buying and hoping this is the one and it is not. If you buy one you are satisfied with, no more sales! Right? So..you buy and buy and buy.

This is my third in the Nikon Coolpix line, and I love it just as much as my previous ones! If you're a fan of any Nikon Coolpix, this will certainly be something you like!

My only disappointment is that there isn't a "Sports" setting anymore, which was something I used a lot on my older models. However, the camera takes such fast pictures that it hasn't really become a problem as of yet.

Battery life is good... haven't taken the time to see how many pictures it has per charge, but it's held up through at least 200 pictures at a graduation I went to recently without any battery indications.

The charger is different than previous the Nikon Coolpix cameras I've owned, as it plugs directly into the camera as opposed to having to remove the battery. I'm not sure whether I like this, because the AC OUT cover is kind of stubborn to come out. Again, it's nothing that's become a problem.

The HD movie is pretty cool. I haven't recording much with it, but the quality on it is wonderful. The record button is on the back of the camera, by the menu, which makes it extremely easy to switch from camera to movie. No setting change! This is definitely one of my favorite features, and is perfect if you like to take both stills and video!

The zoom is great, and takes crisp shots from a good distance!

The smart portrait feature is fun, but probably not something I'll really use. It's a good replacement if you don't want to use the self-timer, but again, it's kind of a pointless feature. Still interesting, though.

I haven't played with the Subject Tracker yet, to be honest. I'll add more to this once I get a chance to mess around with it for a little while.

I bought this camera because I needed something more portable than my Canon. I use it mostly to take photos in the classroom (I'm an art teacher), but I found it's so easily carried and used, that I usually keep it in my purse for anything. The indoor setting isn't very good, but I haven't had an issue with anything else camera-wise. If you're a Mac user, don't bother installing the Nikon software. We have had this camera for only 6 months but love it! We have had no trouble with it until I dropped in on the hardwood floor today. Being my fault, I can't complain about it. Since the one we have is now getting repaired, I went ahead and ordered another one because we need it for vacation. It is super easy to use and we get 8X10 pictures made all the time and they look great! You can print up to 16X20 and still get a good quality. Easy, you can crop on the touchscree which is great. It's small and easy to handle/use. Clear pictures. This camera rocks! The pictures are so crystal clear that it is like looking at them in person! I also like the 7x optical zoom, which you are able to use during video recording. It has easy buttons to operate and there are tons of options to play with and very user friendly. It also takes close-up pictures up to 3mm that are NOT blurry! It has lots of options to have automatically set and very easy to switch to when chanigng scenery or from portrait to landscape. It also has the option of choosing one of your own pics as a screen saver every time you turn on the camera. I like that I can change colors of photos (i.e. black & white, sepia) with the press of a button or use the "vivid color" option. It has a great stabilizer and facial recognition software to remove red eye, tell you when someone has blinked in a pic or can soften skin in a photo.
